Alumni Profile: Karen Trombley Inducted Into Cardinal Sports Hall of Fame
Karin Sherman Trombley, a 1996 graduate of Plattsburgh State, was inducted into the Cardinal Sports Hall of Fame on Friday, Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m. in the Memorial Hall Lobby.
An Emotional Return to Campus
"I am deeply honored to be inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at Plattsburgh State,"
said Karin. "Every time I think about it, I become consumed with emotion."Karin was a powerhouse member of the women's soccer team in 1991 and 1993-1995. In
1992, she took a year off from soccer and was a member of the Women's Basketball team.As a member of the Women's Soccer team, Karin received many accolades for her performance on the field. She was NSCAA All-Northeast
player in 1994 and 1995, an All-State player in 1993, 1994 and 1995 and was All-SUNYAC
in 1994 and 1995.She was chosen Plattsburgh State Female Athlete of the Year in 1995 and was given
the Senior Achievement Award in 1996. She broke five Plattsburgh State soccer school
records including 41 career goals, 16 season goals, season scoring leader with 37
points, career scoring points of 100 and 18 career assists.Following graduation, Karin became a soccer coach and gym teacher at Clinton Community
College. She also worked as a camp recruiter at the Lake Placid Soccer Center. She
returned to Plattsburgh State in the fall of 1996 to work on her master/s in the Administrative
Leadership program. She received her master's from Plattsburgh State in 2002.Karin is currently a teacher's assistant in special education at Momot Elementary
School in Plattsburgh. She works in an 8-1-2 classroom (eight students, one teacher
and two teacher's assistant). She assists the classroom teacher and works with students
who have behavioral difficulties and other needs.
