Departmental Fellowship Program

SUNY Plattsburgh’s Departmental Fellowship Program allows eligible graduate students to work part-time in a position related to their academic and/or professional goals while enrolled in a master’s or graduate certificate program at SUNY Plattsburgh. Fellowship positions can include research assistantships, teaching assistantships or paraprofessional roles which will provide skills/experience relevant to the student’s career goals.

This is a federal work study program supporting graduate students to work in on-campus locations for up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, and 29 hours per week during winter and summer. Fellows are paid up to $20 per hour and can earn up to $12,000 per year. Total award varies based on federal work study eligibility.

The application for 2027–28 Departmental Fellowships is included within the application for graduate admission. Applicants will be contacted by respective supervisors if they are selected for an interview. The 2026–27 Graduate Departmental Fellowship Program application is now closed.

  • Your application for graduate admission must be complete before you will be considered for a fellowship.
  • Due to the specific nature of the work experience, many graduate fellowships require enrollment in a related academic program. The positions relevant to each program are outlined below.
